Mohit Chauhan was born on 11 March 1966 is an popular Indian singer, who has worked as a playback singer for a number of Bollywood movies. He is the former the front man of a Indipop band called Silk Route. He hails frm Nahan, Himachal Pradesh in 1966 and speaks Hindi, Pahari and English. He did his schooling from St. Xavier Delhi and returned to his home state to compete his graduation and Masters in Geology from Dharamshala College of Himachal Pradesh. He has been awarded with a number of awards and recognition for his playback singing from all the major award platforms including Screen and Filmfare.
He started his career singing Indian pop songs with the band Silk Route, with Arpit Gupta which released two albums, Boondein (1998) and Pehchan. The song “Dooba Dooba” became a hit in the Indipop music scene. However, the band dissolved. He stayed off the scene for a while until he came back with the song “Guncha” in 2005 from the movie “Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh”. He also composed that song. Impressed by his composition A R Rahman gave him the chance to sing a song from the movie Rang De Basanti and later Pritam approached him for the song Tum Se Hi from Jab We Met, which gave him a huge recognition in the industry.
