Devendra Fadnavis was born in Nagpur in the year 1970 in a Brahmin family. His father was Gangadhar Rao Fadnavis, an MLC from Nagpur and a prominent name during his time. Currently, Fadnavis is the president of Maharashtra state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party and has been given the responsibility to prepare the party for the Assembly elections scheduled for October 15, 2014. His mother Sarita Fadnavis, who comes from the famous Kaloti family of Amravati, was the Director of Vidarbha Housing Credit Society.
He finished his schooling from Saraswati Vidyalaya in Shankar Nagar Chowk, Nagpur.
He joined Dharampeth Jr. College in the year 1986-87 after which he completed a five -year law degree from Law College, Nagpur. He started his career at a RSS Shakha at Trikoni Park and it helped him inculcate a sense of duty towards his family and as well as society. He joined the Maharashtra unit of BJP as a ward President. He became the youngest municipal corporator of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation at the young age of 21.
