Kitu Gidwani was born as Kaushalya Gidwani on 22 October, 1967 in Mumbai. She did her schooling in Fort Convent School, Mumbai. In her post graduation days, she was very much interested in French, so she started acting in French plays. Later on, she also acted in English plays that are directed by Janak Toprani. She played some television serials and thereupon acted in a French film Black (1987).
Kitu Gidwani is an Indian model, film and TV actress. She gained popularity with the TV series, Air Hostess which was aired on Doordarshan. She has received a great applause for her roles in Dance of the Wind, Deepa Mehta’s Earth, Govind Nihalani’s Rukhmavati Ki Haveli, Kamal Haasan’s Abhay and Deham.
Kitu has made her acting debut with the television series “Trishna” in 1984. Later, she played the role of a Hindustani classical singer, in the film “Dance of the Wind”, for which she has won Best Actress Award at Three Continents Festival. Apart from many serials and movies, she has also done commercials. She is the promoter of Wills Sport Lifestyle brand of clothing. She has also acted in a Gujarati film “Your Place or Mine”.
