Abhay was born on 15 March 1976 into a Punjabi Sikh family. He is the son of producer and director Ajit Singh Deol. He is the nephew of famous veteran actor Dharmendra and cousin of actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol and actress Esha Deol. He has done his graduation from Mumbai University. He was involved in theatre since childhood and after completing a two year acting course, he entered into the entertainment world.
Abhay Deol is an Indian actor and producer who is popular in bollywood. He made his bollywood debut with Imtiaz Ali’s romantic comedy ‘Socha Na Tha’ opposite Ayesha Takia. He is best known for his energetic roles in successful films like ‘Dev D’, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ and many more. He was recently seen in the flick Happy Bhaag Jayegi.
Abhay Deol has made his debut in 2005 with Imtiaz Ali film Socha Na Tha and received critical acclaim for his performance. He was also seen in a multi starrer film “HoneyMoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.” in 2007 alongwith veteran actors like Shabana Azmi and Boman Irani.
He has done several other movies like Ek Chaalis Ki Last Local, Manorama Six Feet Under, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, Dev.D, a revival of Devdas, Chakravyuh and Shanghai. His role in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was earned him his first nomination for Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
