Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari was born 15 October 1979, is an Indian filmmaker and writer. She studied in St Marys Convent and did her higher studies from SIES college of commerce and economics. Inclined towards art, she managed to convince her mother to get into an art school. Her mother Lakshmi Subramanium was a principal of S.M.P.R school in Mulund. Ashwiny is married to writer-director Nitesh Tiwari and the couple is blessed with twins.
After having worked in advertising for several years, she made her directorial debut with the 2016 comedy drama Nil Battey Sannata. The film garnered critical acclaim and Iyer went on to direct it’s Tamil remake entitled Amma Kanakku. She had previously served as the Executive Creative Director at Leo Burnett before she moved on to pursue a filmmaking career.
